Configurable BOM – This BOM has multiple options and highly configurable products.
Single-level BOM – This includes one level of an assembly and does not include any lower-level subassemblies.
Multi-Level BOM – This consists of two or more levels.
Engineering BOM – is the design of the finished product which also consists of the complete list of components or parts as designed by the engineering team.
Manufacturing BOM – The list of components required to produce the finished products along with the quantities.
Service BOM – This is a list of serviceable parts needed to maintain an asset while it is in operations. It applies to individuals concerned with servicing or using products, whether they be end-users, mechanics, technicians, dealers, or others alike.

This may be issued according to sales order, and its issuance triggers many events.

2. Release – The release order allocated component to the order. The release will order and purchase out-of-stock components if transfer orders, and replenishment are set to automatic.
3. Work in progress – production runs, and production operations are carried out. The component is consumed when a production operation is started. Finished product output has been received to the stock location.
4. Complete – Final products have been output and received to the stock location.
