Setting up a nested BOM

To create a nested BOM you need to first create an initial product and then set it to type “Production BOM” as per normal. In this example, we are making a base of a cake from a recipe.

Assign components and or resources such as labour/machines.

Once the first BOM is complete start creating the header BOM, which is the cake and include the base as one of the components. The initial BOM becomes a “sub assembly within the header BOM.

Once you begin the header production run, it will automatically create a related production order for the first BOM which is the base. Once the first production run is complete the base, we can then finish the production run to bake the cake.
