How to create backorders

Back Orders are the process for a purchase order to be raised automatically when there is not enough stock available. A default supplier needs to be assigned to the product for the Back Order to work successfully.

You can allocate the suppliers in the Product Card. In this example we use the Blue Gloves Product.

To check availability go to the Stock page in the Product card.

To start the Back Order process create a sale as per previously instructed. In this screenshot you can see there is an order of 10. When the order is authorised an Error message will appear if there is more quantity ordered than what is in stock.

Once you have got the Error message the Authorise button is replaced by a Backorder button.

Once you click on the Backorder button go to purchase > Reorder backorder to see the results.

Once you are on the reorder backorder page you will see this screen. This window allows you to filter which products for which customer and from which supplier can be selected.

In this screenshot we have filtered by the customer to find the product that needed to be backordered.
Then you click Reorder.

Once you have clicked the Reorder button a notification appears telling you which purchase order has been raised.

Click on the hyperlink to open the Purchase Order.

This has the quantity required to fulfil the order. (Go To Guides for Purchasing to complete the process.)
